We worked with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT), one of the UK’s largest acute trusts, to create a strong and unified brand following its merger of two major hospital trusts. LUHFT needed a brand that would reflect its vision, values, and strategic direction while aligning its multiple sites and legacy brands into a cohesive identity.

What We Did

LUHFT, formed from the merger of Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital Trust, commissioned us to create a comprehensive brand framework. This framework would communicate its vision and values to all stakeholders, inspire pride among staff, and engage the local community. We conducted extensive engagement with key stakeholders, including staff, patients, senior management, and community partners, to inform a brand narrative that was both authentic and distinctive.

Following this research, we developed a clear, written brand story and positioning, ensuring it resonated across all levels of the organisation. We then translated this into a visual identity that included a unique look and feel, brand architecture, and guidelines for consistency across all touchpoints. The new brand was rigorously tested with key stakeholders before roll-out.

We supported LUHFT with the implementation of this new identity, including launching organisational values, strategic reports, and various communication materials such as posters, videos, and infographics.

Why It Matters

LUHFT is a cornerstone institution for the Liverpool City Region, with a significant role in the health and well-being of the community. This project was pivotal in shaping an identity that reflects LUHFT’s future ambitions, helping it connect with both the local population and its diverse workforce.

This project allowed us to collaborate with a flagship organisation, ensuring the brand captured LUHFT’s essence and values. The result is a brand that both inspires staff and fosters pride in the communities they serve.
